Why Make Money Online Bloggers Slow Down On Posts

by Deneil Merritt on August 20, 2009

If you notice, a lot of make money online bloggers go from one post a day to one post every 3 days, once a week, or one big post a month. There are a few reasons for this. I thought about doing less posts as well but I know some of my readers would think its wried of me not to have a new post everyday. So I choose to cut back on promotion for my blog over not posting.

Reason 1) More Important Projects
As a make money online blogger, in other words an internet entrepreneur. One must always have other projects going on to show that you can make money online, to teach you how to do the same thing, and let you learn from our mistakes. With that being said, you can understand that when big projects come along. We want to put our focus on that project or projects. So the blog gets put on the back burner.

Reason 2) Nothing New To Report
To keep new content on our make money online blogs, we like to post updates about our projects. When we are doing the same thing day and in day out. There is nothing new to report. The earnings are the same, traffic is the same, and the design is the same. So there’s nothing new for us to report about our projects.

Reason 3) Nothing New To Teach
For those of us that are making some money online or like most people like to say real money or serious money. We specialize in one area of internet marketing that works for us. For example, I have a friend that specialize in black methods, I have another friend specialize in single field offers from CPA networks like marketleverage, and etc. Everybody has their own area of internet marketing. Once we posted everything we know about it, there is nothing new to teach until we learn something new. So there is nothing to post.

Now you know why most “real” make money online bloggers slow down on their posts. The reason I say “real” is because their are make money online bloggers out there, that has no idea how to make money online but start a MMO blog to teach others how to make money online. Which I totally do not get why they do this.

Next time you visit your favorite MMO blogger and they have not made a new post. Email them and say thank you for teaching blah, blah, blah. Wish them luck on there projects and ask them to at least post their income report at the beginning of the month to motivate their readers.

Thank you for being my readers and hanging in there with me through the ups and downs.

Of course, Deneil, that changes things just a little bit. People get used to seeing new posts, and if suddenly there aren’t any new posts, or the frequency drops drastically, many people will stop coming, and then there’s no reason to write because you’ll always be writing for brand new people.

True, we all need to work on our own thing to make money, but you see my blog, which really isn’t a making money online blog, has lots of posts; all three of them do. I feel it’s just as important to continually have new content to keep people coming, while still having enough time to work on other projects.

As for the nothing new to report,… heck, to me, that’s something to write about also. It’s an honest way to let everyone know that not every day is a world beater.

If you don’t have anything to write then you can do a small post it doesn’t have to be 400 words. You can write a post about what you are learning and see if anyone has done this before. You might be able to get someone to help you learn the new thing that you are trying to learn. Greg Ellison

Another reason is also that all of your posts get a maximum of exposure. This is one of the reasons why I only publish one post a day even though I have a large archive with interesting headlines. By posting once a week you’ll give your visitors more chance to read theme, leading to you not throwing your content away since it disappears so fast from the frontpage.

I guess it also depends on how mature the MMO blog is, some will post every few days and have great content and others will post now and then like Stefan say. It depends on the webmasters goals and targets, we are all different and using different methods to attain our goals.

Can I add an option 4?

4) Because life gets in the way!

Health problems (my back is stuffed), school holidays, a seriously whingy better half – the list goes on and on. :)

Very true reasons Deneil! I own a mmo blog as well, so you can see I’m slowing down in updating my blog this few days. In fact, I just came back from my convocation, it took me about 5-7days to complete, but I did receive $150 cash check as a prize for my first class result. :P
After coming back from convocation, I need to continue my day job (There is about 5days works waiting for me to settle). Anyway, I’m trying to come out a new post in this 2 days, otherwise my blog seems to be dead.

Between, I’ve done a new link building for my blog, and I’m waiting for the result as the tutorial said it will take about 5 days or longer to see the result, I hope it’s real, then I’ll be sharing this in my blog. :)

Regards,
Lee

I don’t have day work at the moment, so I’m focusing on my online business. I am very busy with my new project and new making money online method that I hardly find time to post new articles.

I think this also happens with non MMO blog sites. Sometimes if you got a niche blog then you can’t stray away from your topics too far. This means you might run out of ideas sooner or later.

Greg, you got a good point there. There is always somebody that knows more than you in a given niche. Making a post about the project you working on, somebody will make a comment about it and provide some useful information.

Paul, you are right on with that. Life does get in the way. I can really relate to back pains and a whingy better half. :)

Yeah, that is my problem as well Hanji. I feel lucky to pump out content daily even though I don’t have time for it.

Benjamin, we are in the same boat. My new projects take up all my time. I try to write an article for this blog when I first get online or before I go to sleep just to make sure I got new content daily.

Yeah. That’s why I don’t make niche blogs like normal blogs. I write 5 to 25 articles and customize it to look like a website not a blog. Never update it again. I just build backlinks for its given keywords. Niche blogs make nice little mini sites.

Deneil,

There are any number of reasons for folks to slow down the posts – you’re right.

Life coming up and biting you on the butt is another big one. I’ve had a couple of periods during the last six months where it just wasn’t possible to blog frequently.

Of course, I’m not a big time MMO blogger yet, either…

I know how life can get in the way. Besides that I am sure you will never run out of things to write about since you write about writing. lol
