When Things Make Sense

by Deneil Merritt on December 21, 2009

I know, the title is a little off but that’s ok. I am not trying to rank in the search engines with this post. :) I just want to update you guys and gals on what’s been going on. Things have been coming together and everything is making sense. Which is why I titled this post when things make sense.

First lets talk about my number 1 money maker kushmoney the poker blog. Since I started back doing blog posts on it. The traffic has gone up. I deleted all the old entrepreneur blog posts on it. If you didn’t know kushmoney was my first entrepreneur blog before I switch it over to poker. I know what some of you are thinking. What about the keywords you use to rank for. Well any traffic I am getting for those keywords, visitors are going to the 404 error. Which I set up to make money :)

I also got in contact with a poker affiliate that has made a wordpress plugin to manage an poker league. Which is what I needed to run the online poker tour I am setting up on kushmoney. Over the pass month I have been thinking of which online poker room would be most profitable to run my poker tour on. If I go with one of the 2 biggest online poker rooms on the internet today. I will make very little money since everyone trying the poker tour will already have an account. So I had to go over which online poker rooms have software that is compatible with both pc’s and mac’s. Don’ want to leave anyone out. You know?

So about a week ago, one of my poker affiliate mentors told about a online poker room that is still small, converts well, and has not only poker but casino, sportsbook, and horse betting. So I know the profits are there. If any of my poker players stop playing poker and starting betting in the casino, on his favorite teams in the sportsbook, or on horses. I still make money. :) Great thing about this is they are a small poker room which will mean that most of my players will have to signup to the poker room through my links and banners.

Now on to my baby, Poker Commercials. This project is my love. I keep coming up with ideas to help it grow faster or improve the user friendliness of the site. Besides taking the time to find poker commercials on youtube to place on the site. I added a poker forum which is starting to grow. Kind of lucky I guess. (Even though I don’t believe in luck)

Let me explain, I was on myspace just looking at people profiles went I came across this beautiful women that loves poker. Of course, me being me, I sent her message saying hi and how I can beat her poker. Which of course, got her to reply. We found each other played on full tilt poker. We became good friends and I told her about the poker forum. Come to find out, she plays in a lot of freeroll (free) tournaments. Which allowed her to become friends with alot of poker players. Which she been telling other players about the time. She kept asking me when I was going to set up a freeroll tournament for the site. I told her sometime around Christmas.

Last week I set up an $25 freeroll (free) tournament with the idea of building a mailing list. So to only award entry into the tournament. I made it as a Christmas for only confirm newsletter subscribers. Yesterday was the day of the tournament. Each day before yesterday, I was getting around 4 to 8 new subscribers. The day of the event, I got over 100 new subscribers. How crazy is that? I am happy with the results.

Many poker affiliates don’t like running freerolls because the players are hard to convert from play money to real money poker players. However, I have come up with a plan that should not only convert a good percentage of them but also help me get more freeroll tournaments without me paying for them and help poker commercials get notice in the poker forum world. :)

Which leads me to my next project that I finshed, Reefer Poker Deposit Bonus. It’s a mini site that tells poker players the pros and cons of playing at the online poker room and provides a coupon code for an exclusive bonus only found on my mini site. Thanks to my affiliate manager at reeferpartners. Which is very friendly and helpful. Easy access to him on skype.

Which leads me to my next project, Relationship Money. I was on skype talking with a group of entrepreneurs. We all was talking about our niches. Since I am so focus and passionate about poker. I talked about it alot and they was asking about how the payment works with promoting online poker rooms. So me being me love to help people and don’t like to repeat myself over and over again. I made a website that explains the commissions, details about the online poker rooms affiliate programs, and a lot more will be added to the site once I am finish with it.

I know you wondering why I pick this domain. Well truthfully, I was going to write an ebook to sell on how to make money promoting products on how to get your ex back. My case study was a failure. The ebook never was completed and sold. Since I have to work one on one with each of my sub affiliates. I thought the name was a perfect fit because I will be building a business relationship with anyone who is serious about becoming a poker affiliate. I also added some services that will help people get started faster.

I have many more projects planned. I just ran out of funds to complete them quickly. So next month, I will be on the hunt for alot of advertisers. I am not going to set any goals for next month at the moment since the new year is around the corner. Ill make a blog post about my goals for the 2010 year.

As you can see, I have been a very busy guy. I have got alot done with a lot more to do. I will try to make more posts here. Just post a comment on what you really want to read about and ill try to have a blog post asap. Until next time, let your desire drive your motivation and everything will work out.

Thought you were promoting web hosting businesses, or are you in the fail mindset and give up already?

Relationshipmoney.com, I checked it out. Can you help me make a couple thousand more $ a month? If you’re entrepeneur friends don’t know what you’ve written on that site then they’re either from other industries or properly clueless.

If you’re gonna go claiming to help people at least give some advantages. I would only sign up under you to save myself time or because you have a good track record and know a ton of stuff. Not saying you don’t but you don’t give any evidence of knowing anything.

So why don’t you save me work, give me access to your in-house backlink building or whatever for so many days after I sign up under you. I don’t want to work to make you money.

Come on you got the chance to sell us, opt people into your list and blow them away with little tricks that sound awesome and get people to sign up.

Hello Harry, If you read my other post the November 2009 income report. I said that the hosting business was put on hold. Trouble with coming up with a brandable name and my partner is obsessed with making the perfect web design. I have no problem with this since I already have a business to run.

As for relationshipmoney.com I am putting that site together in my free time. Any free time I get, I try to add more content. As for helping you make a couple thousand dollars a month. Sure but that really depends on how hard you work. There are no short cuts to success, promoting poker is one of the hardest niches you can enter. If you are lazy, good luck on making a dollar.

Yes, I do know some “advantages” to getting started in the poker affiliate business and will write about them. It’s all about the time factor at the moment. I have a ton of work to do for my main 2 projects. I do have a good track record with helping others. While I have struggled to find myself and the niche that I like. (Which I know now) I have help others make thousands of dollars. Yes, my entrepreneur friends are all in other niches. We all share information to her each other make money.

I would never sell to someone unless I knew the product or services was going to help them. I have turned down thousands of dollars for that reason only!

Thanks for commenting, Happy Holidays!

ok cool. Guess I’m just disillusioned with the number of people out there who claim to know something but shouldn’t even be talking about it because they just pollute the blogosphere.

It’s just from what I see your site relationshipmoney.com sells you short. Maybe it’s because you spend too much time helping people that you’ve lost all sense of running your own business.

The issues I see with it is that you’re not focused on that almost exclusively and it shows, maybe you released it too early? Make it a free service with payments to upgrade and get your useful tools and inside secrets. But be specific about what you offer. I haven’t seen your other sites so maybe they’re a lot different (right now I can’t get to your site because your server is down intermittently (ok it opened finally)).

“Subscribe to our newsletter and get the latest news on KPT events, bonuses, freerolls, and official forum events.” I dont know how well that converts into subscribers but I’m guessing below 10%. I might be wrong, and if I am I’d be interested in why it does convert better. I know I’m not the greatest at my own calls to action, but I’m tweaking stuff.

I think you should pull some of the strategies out of your forum and turn them into a downloadable pdf on newsletter signup. Then if you’re any kind of decent poker player brand yourself with the site. Instead of calling the site kushmoney.com, be kushmoney. Write about how you dominated a game, what went through your mind, the strategy you played, show graphs etc. Make it your story to glory.

Now you can be like get the inside information when you sign up to the newsletter about how I really won, stuff I won’t tell you publicly on my site because I don’t want my competition to find out. Talk about your age and your struggle, and then link through on every post you make at the bottom through to your favorite online poker table with a little info about why it’s the best.

I completely agree with you. relationshipmoney.com isn’t up to par. As I said before, time plays a major role in that. I do plan on rewriting the content and adding more content. I just gave some simple detail on commissions for a few friends. The real content comes when I have time for it.

Right now I am focus is on my money maker which is kushmoney.com and my baby pokercommercials.com The way I am setting them up is to work together along with a few smaller sites.

relationshipmoney.com is my share time project. If I get to it, I get to it. If I don’t, I don’t. You know? Anybody that wants to become an poker affiliate will get my skype and have access to me 24/7. As long as I am online they can contact me. My skype details should be on the site before Sunday.

As for my call to action for the newsletter optin forum. I would be shocked if its over 1%. I haven’t given any thought into that newsletter signup form. I was going to test that after the KPT season has started and slowly tweak it each week.

Harry, I think that is a great idea. I really wasn’t thinking about making an ebook in the poker niche. lol I should have known it was work since people love free stuff that will help them. I could write an ebook about how I won 8 sitngos in a row.

As for writing about how I played, what went through my mind, and etc. I was going to start to write about that when the KPT season started. Along with doing interviews with the winners. (if not me)

There is a lot being done behind the scenes that will be done next month. Poker room reviews, strategies, kushmoney poker tour, interviews, me writing about my poker career, and more.

I have a ton on my plate and trying my best to get things done as fast as I can. I am only one man. However, when the income level its my “baby step” goal. I will being hiring someone to take a load me.

Wow, Harry gave you some great information here. I was actually going to ask if you had a Freudian slip in the middle when you were talking about writing an ebook and then slipped something in about getting back your ex. You wrote this: “Well truthfully, I was going to write an ebook to sell on how to make money promoting products on how to get your ex back.”

In any case, you’re definitely a busy guy; I hope you achieve the success you’re shooting for.

Indeed, Harry had some pretty good ideas. I am going to start writing that ebook with as much detail as I can when I get the time. Should right after new years. Don’t want to rush it though.

Yeah, back in the summer I did a case study and it failed so the domain relationshipmoney.com was just sitting there until now.

Thanks for the kind words Mitch. It feels really good to see a plan coming together.

Can I ask you how many poker related domains/websites you have. I’m just wondering to see how invested you are and how long you have been doing this.

I could tell you 5 however, that number could be 10 by the end of the month. I am always making new sites so that number is unknown.
