Setup Your Blog For Social Media Marketing

by Deneil Merritt on July 30, 2009

I was thinking about the social media marketing challenge and realize that I would be wasting my time with some of the social media sites. After going over the social media sites that will work for my blog, personal branding, and my overall success. I setup everything for my blog to be promoted on autopilot when I make a post. So I can just focus on being social to get more friends on these social media websites.

How I Setup My For Social Media Marketing

First I installed Twitter Tools so each post will be sent to twitter. Then I added my blog RSS feed to the following sites; Facebook, Linkedin, and Friendfeed. Now each time I make a blog post, the post is sent out to these social media sites.

Recap of sites I use for autopilot social media marketing;
Twitter
Facebook
Linkedin
Friendfeed

That wraps up the autopilot social media marketing. Now let’s go over the manual social media marketing which isn’t that much. I submit my posts to twittley which sends a tweet to twitter and then I submit my posts to stumbleupon and send it to all my friends on stumbleupon.

Recap of sites I use for manual social media marketing;
Twittley
Stumbleupon

That wraps up the manual social media marketing. You can do even more to make stay in front of people’s eyes. Which I do for even more promotion for my blog, personal branding, and my overall successful. First I thought about which sites would be best for my success in the long run and will not waste my time.

My blog and all the social media sites I will be using for my overall success and how they inter link with each other.
Blog > Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, & Friendfeed

Youtube > Facebook, Twitter, & Friendfeed

Twitter > Facebook & Friendfeed

Facebook > Friendfeed

Linkedin > Friendfeed

Stumbleupon > Friendfeed

Twittley > Twitter

As you go over this spider web of social sites you will notice that some of the sites get the same information over and over.  This keeps your content in the eyes of your friends, followers, readers, and buyers. Keep in mind that what works for my blog may not work for yours. I picked the best sites for my content, so you should really go over which social media sites are working for your blog.

If you already did this what social media sites are you using?

I like your strategy Deneil. I definitely need to devote some time designing a strategy for our site as well. Thanks for sharing yours!

I’m also getting all of my posts autmoatically posted to Twitter, but that’s the only social media site I’m using besides StumbleUpon where I don’t post my own blog.

Isn’t there a chance of people getting tired (StumbleUpon) to get posts about all of your entries? I know I’ve stopped following people who constantly sends me messages about their own blogposts.

Nice post I actually think my 1st product is going to be on this as social media is huge, but can quickly become a time waster is you don’t figure out how to pipe it all together.

But once you do you can do some mass distribution of content with a single action and your right everyone has there own favorites. I had the same thing with friendfeed to, I think that might be the best think to pipe everything in to from what I have seen so far.

I think you missing tube mogel as it might be a pain to setup all the video accounts, I actually just added a few right before this comment but once it done your video can go to 12-20 places with one action.

Glad you like it. Coming up with a strategy is pretty simple. As long as you pick the right social sites to match your content.

Only using twitter and stumbleupon is limiting your success.

That’s where many people go wrong, you not suppose to only send your blog posts. I come across great articles that I want to share with everyone asap.

I would not say you missing anything. Not many people log into their friendfeed account but it gets your content in front of more eyes. One thing I learned about friendfeed is many people subscribe to your friendfeed easily. I got over 200 subscribers to my friendfeed account without logging in.

Sounds awesome, building your own product is fun.

I agree once you get it right, your traffic only has one way to go is up. As for friendfeed, yes it put your content in front of more eyes than most sites. Since we use urlshorters its hard to track what traffic comes from friendfeed.

I didn’t forget tubemogul, I used it to upload my video to video sites. I just put the social sites that will bring in traffic and inter web with each other and my blog.
