Remember, my income is from my small network of blogs, websites, affiliate marketing, services, website flipping, and ebook.

As you can see the income is the lowest it has ever been. It’s a good reason for that. I wasn’t focus on making money this past month. I started out focus on making money this month. Then the internet outage and slow getting back to work. I realize somethings and I wanted to learn more. So For the past 3 weeks I have been researching and studying how to do the following.

I researched and studied how to build a mailing list. I already knew about 3 methods and now I know a lot more. I am going to put 2 or 3 methods into one site and see how that turns out. It does mean I will have to launch another ebook but I am fine with that. Should be another great learning experience. Hopefully I do it right and everything goes well.

I researched and studied how to set up a membership site. I didn’t realize how many membership sites there was teaching you about membership sites. Funny thing is if you search hard enough anything you find in a membership site you can find for free. I know you maybe thinking why people buy memberships then. Well for one reason, they can find the information they need in one place. Not 1,000′s of websites. With that being said, my membership site is going to be great. Since we all know it’s going to be about building a mailing list. I decided to do a few case studies. I will need a few people to teach and show as case studies in my membership site. So if you are on my mailing list. Keep an eye out for that email.

Last but not least, I researched and studied how to handle pre-launch, launch, and post launch. Now I know how to create a buzz about a product before the launch (pre-launch), create a lot of buzz day of the launch and make a lot of money, and make a lot of post launch profits. So no matter if its pre-launch, launch, or post launch. I will be creating buzz for the product. Funny thing about this is I learned all of this from researching on how to build a mailing list.

I learned something I think is really important  and everybody should learn it too. In Pat’s threes laws of business and success: Law #2. He talks about this formula or some simple math that made me really think about my business. Since my business don’t make enough monthly to hire someone for full time. I have decided to sell off all the websites I put on the back burner. Even my small niche sites. Everything must go unless it fits into my bigger plan or the big picture.

With all that being said, none of the goals was completed. For this month I will not set any goals. I have written my tasks for this month and will do my best to complete them all. My main focus is being as productive as I can.

Normally I end this post with: What do you think about my income and goals?

Today I want to end it with my quote that I live by.

Let your desire drive your motivation.

Everyone has a off month once in a while. Just keep working at it. Atleast you made money this month so that is good. Greg Ellison

I wouldn’t call it an off month. Money wasn’t the focus. Education was the focus. Trust me, I learned a lot. I would call this a very successful month.

I think it’s great that you stopped and made sure you learned a lot about the things you’re aiming at. Otherwise you’d have spent a lot of time having to do things – and re-do them later instead of putting in the time studying about it up-front. Keep us posted – I love learning this stuff from you!

Going Good man with a small network of blogs. Wishing you success in future and looking forward to work with you. Anyways, with more than 2500 pageviews, you should have made a little more with adsense.

Comparing just your visitors stats for September with August, it’s amazing to see what it can do when you don’t post often, it sure made a dent in the stats.

I’m eagerly looking forward to see you implement some of the new stuff you learned for the past few weeks :)

I only made $64 this month… if I include Adsense and AWeber…it would become only $100…. that’s really small comparing to everything you have earned before.

Well, since your top referrer in traffic is from a search engine, I would suggest putting more PPC ads up and test out the placements of those ads. You can definitely get your Adsense to increase that way.

Also, I would focus a little bit more on building links and your keywords so you can get even more traffic… just a thought man.

Yeah, this month traffic should be lot better.

It’s going to be a lot of work behind the scenes for awhile. I will keep everybody posted on the steps I take to get the site together.

$100 is not bad. Truth, I feel everything I done before was small. Most of my friends are doing at $4k a month or more. Funny thing all of them stop blogging or slowed down on blogging to focus on making more money from affiliate marketing or about to launch their product.

We just have to keep it. I am sure its going to pay off sooner or later.

Jay I don’t use adsense on this blog.

Will be working on building links after I am done working on one of my latest projects.

Nice post.

It’s nice to see some statistics of other related blog’s. By the way everyone has a off month, although you wasen’t focused on making money this month. It’s good to know that you’ve atleast gained some knowledge and information about the subject you was researching.

Hopefully you can pick up from here and start earning some nice income next month. You’ve atleast made something unlike my blog and that’ s better then nothing.

Anyway i wish you good luck with your ebook and affiliate program.

Getting more traffic sure will help to bring more revenue. I believed that was what you studied. ;)

The thing with making money on the Internet is that you always get your ups and downs, and sometimes they have nothing to do with the amount of work you put into it. The thing to remember is never to give up and to continue plugging away.

Hi there,
I am always happy to find other people out there who are on their own quest to make money online. I have been using a mixture of different avenues to make money, mostly adsense at the moment. I hope to increase my efforts using other streams.

I completely agreed with your point that doing research is very important. There is always a risk that your income will suffer for a while but once you have invested time in figuring out what really works, your income should skyrocket in the future. That’s my wish anyway.
Good luck to you and happy earnings for the month of October.

I agree, it is nice to see other people’s numbers. I find that it gives me a bit of motivation and hopefully I inspire others as well. I believe the knowledge I learned these past weeks will last a life time.

I am sure this month will pick. I am selling my smaller sites so there’s money to be made from these website flips.

Welcome, I am happy you found my blog. I hope you the best with your money making avenues.

To me, I think if you researching and studying how to make more money from the things you doing. It’s not taking a risk, you make less money and learned some knowledge that in the long term will make you a lot more money than you was doing before. Good luck to you as well.

Cheers to our success.

“Let your desire drive your motivation.” – I like that! Good to see that you are learning each month, which is most important. It is frickin hard to do everything you want to do and stay on top of it all. If you works on a certain project… something else suffers a little. There needs to be another 8 hours in each day so we can do all the things we need to do :)

Deneil Merritt October 3, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Glad you like it Doug. You right, if we focus on a certain project other projects stuffer. This is why I really recommend everybody reads Pat article; threes laws of business and success: Law #2

It really got me thinking about my business and what projects should be cut. It’s only been 3 days into this month and I sold 2 of my projects for a nice little profit. I have about 3 or 4 more to sell.

Hey Deneil, I think that like you said in your post and several of your comments it was not about the money this month it was about your education. To me that is far more important than how much one makes with adsense or any other program, if one can learn more about what makes a blog work in and out and the workings of making money and selling a product or promoting a product then you are bound to make the money as time goes on. You got it now roll with it as they say. I wish I could say that I have the need to educate myself more on these subjects, I find I take the easy way out by paying for a webmaster because I’m too afraid to touch anything that might mess up my blog. Great post. jj

I wonder why your Adsense earning is so low Deneil, but that’s fine that you didn’t make much money for last month, I’m sure you’ll get back to work and fire it up! I’m waiting for the launch of your membership site and ebook Deneil. :)

Keep it up and don’t give up!

I think this is the lowest income then ever. Hope this month will be much beneficial and profitable for you. Carry on.

Deneil Merritt October 5, 2009 at 3:11 am

JJ, I couldn’t have said that better myself. Learning how to make money from the things you doing is always more important than keep doing them the same way and make little money.

lol, if I could pay someone to do all the coding stuff. I surely would. Budget doesn’t allow me to do so just yet. Always better to pay someone that know what their doing than mess something up.

Deneil Merritt October 5, 2009 at 3:18 am

Lee I try to make this clear. I only use adsense to test ad slots on my websites. Adsense is far from important in my business model. This month income is going to be around $100 – $200. Anything over that will be a shock. lol.

The membership site and ebook is going to take awhile. I want to make sure I get everything right.

I’m not sorry about the low income. I knew it was going to be low. Money was not the focus, education was the focus. October such be a good month. Happy birthday. My anniversary is this month. It will be 3 years being with my girlfriend.

Wow, the process of education certainly kicked you behind when it came to the money this month, especially when compared to your income, what, two months ago? I’m slightly troubled by this, though you’re not, and I’ll tell you why.

One would have thought that you’d have at least your passive income making sure you were making more money than you did. Then I just realized that you don’t have Adsense on your blog. I know many blogs don’t make a lot from Adsense, but I’m wondering if you have Adsense on any of your other sites.

Still, I applaud you for the honesty in your income, and wish you well for this month.

Thanks for the kind words. lol, I don’t run adsense on this blog. I run adsense on one site. I wouldn’t waste my time with adsense on here unless I was testing an ad slot.
