Post Plan

by Deneil Merritt on September 18, 2009

Early today, I talked about coming up with your post schedule. Now I want to talk about coming up with your post plan. What’s the difference between the two. Your post schedule is about how many times you going to post a week while your post plan is focus on what you going to post about.

I am going to use myself as an example. My post plan is still in the works but coming along pretty well. Monday, I have my “link love” post called Flashback Monday. Tuesday, I try to keep focused on blogging. Friday, I try to do my video series called Fun Friday. (Sometimes I forget to do a video)

That’s all I got for my weekly post plan but it doesn’t stop there. I have 2 posts for my monthly post plan. On the 1st of each month, I post my income reports and on the 2nd of each month I post discount coupon codes.

It doesn’t have to stop at weekly and monthly. You could run something yearly if you like. Make it something big people can’t wait for it to come around again.

Let’s do another example. Let’s use poker for an example. You could post about no limit Texas hold’em on Monday, limit Texas hold’em on Tuesday, badugi poker on Wednesday, Stud Hi on Thursday, and etc.

Post plans can be very useful since you will always know what to write about. I can’t see how you can get writers block with a post plan included into your post schedule. You will have the content flowing and if you write all the articles for the week ahead of time like I explain in the post how to grow your blog faster. You will only have to focus on promotion for your blog.

I hope this help you with your blogging.

I have my own post plan, weekly and monthly:

Weekly:
1. Two to three posts on various topics
2. Monday weekly roundup of previous weeks posts
3. Newest WordPress plugins

Monthly:
1. Monthly roundup of posts
2. Monthly income report

Nice post plan, I like the newest wordpress plugins posts. Always good to see what’s out there.
