Poker Affiliate: Social Media Marketing

by Deneil Merritt on August 22, 2010

With each post I am having more and more fun with this series. Helping you get started becoming a poker affiliate. So far I have went over how to set up your site, on-site SEO, and off-site SEO. Today I will cover social media marketing. I personally only focus on 3 social network sites. Believe me 3 is all you need to drive traffic to your site.

Twitter – To promote on twitter you need a email address from your site (ie. admin@yourdomain.com)  to set up your site’s twitter account. Grab the free ebook twitter handbook for the basics of setting up an twitter account. You want the username to be twitter.com/yourdomain for branding reasons. Make sure your url is on your twitter page. I recommend getting the ebook twitter marketing for the basics of marketing on twitter.

Ok, now to go a little more deeper. If you are not friendly then marketing on twitter is not for you. It’s called social media marketing for a reason. Do a search on twitter for your keyword. Answer people questions (only if you know the answer) and add a link back to your site if the page you linking to helps answer the question. By doing this people will follow you because they begin to trust you.

Now when making your tweets you want to make full use of hashtags. Adding “#” in front of a word makes it a hastag. By using hashtags on your keywords within your tweet will make your tweet show up in the keyword searches on twitter. For example if you put “#poker” in your newest tweet and I searched for poker on twitter your tweet would show up in the results.

Another way to get a lot of twitter followers is by hosting a freeroll (free poker tournament) on a popular online poker room. I recommend contacting poker affiliate solutions support to get a $25 freeroll on full tilt poker. Yes the $25 will come out of your pocket. This will easily get you over 100 twitter followers you can build trust with and convert some of them over time.

Facebook – If you have a facebook account already this you are half way there. When you log into your account click on “ads and pages” then click on “pages” then click on “create page” to make your facebook fan page. Its very straight forward to set up. Once you have 25 fans you will need to go to facebook.com/username to set your website’s facebook fan page to look like this facebook.com/yourdomain for branding reasons.

Now as for marketing on facebook. It’s all about being social. Post things that get people talking on the page as well as going back to your site. Perfect for those of you that choose to have a forum on your site. Post a question on your forum and post the link to it with the question on your facebook fan page. To get fans quickly do a freeroll like I suggested for building your twitter account quickly.

Youtube – This one is by far the easiest to get traffic from because you don’t have to spend a lot of time talking with your visitors. First let’s go over setting up your youtube account. When signing up to youtube, you want to use the same email address as your twitter account. Make sure your url is on your youtube channel page.

Marketing on youtube is straight forward. You shouldn’t have any problems getting traffic from youtube. You make videos related to your niche in this case poker with your url in the video. You can add your logo for branding. Have a call to action at the end of the video to drive traffic to your website.

Using All 3 websites together
When you post a video on youtube you want to post the link to the video on twitter and facebook. This allows you to let all of your subscribers to watch the video which will lead back to your website anyway. A more effective way is to embed the video on your website and post the link to that page on twitter and facebook. That way your visitors don’t have to go any where they are already on your site.

So far your assets are your website, twitter page, facebook fan page, and youtube channel. Tomorrow I will go over email marketing and show you how to turn your search engine traffic and social media traffic into long term profits and more importantly another asset to your portfolio.

Now if you put all this into effect and quit the business later. I will buy your assets as a whole. Just contact me. Now for those of you that don’t want a site but want to profit. Signup to my rakeback site and use the referral center. You can still use the assets in this article to make a nice profit.
