Is Your Blog A Community?

by Deneil Merritt on July 21, 2009

I am starting to see that my blog is really becoming a community. Something that was my goal from the very start. Happy, positive, business people ready to learn from me and others as well as teach others. Blogs can be the place to connect with other bloggers even if its not the owner of the blog you are connecting with. Networking with other people in your niche is important to your success as an blogger and as an internet marketer.

If you do not have the knowledge about a subject find out who does. If you have ideas about something and somebody agrees with it build on that. Start networking with that person. This is how to build a network of people you trust and people trust you. You are always building trust with your readers, why not build trust with someone else readers as well?

These are the making of a community building on your blog. You must gain the respect of your readers and the readers of others. It pretty much goes back to the power of leverage. By leveraging other blogs to gain more readers, respect, and trust to your blog. You can slowly (or quickly) build a community on your blog.

The way you can know when a community is building on your blog. Your traffic will go up day by day, you will start to receive more comments, and most importantly. You will start to see your commentators reply to other commentators. This is the true making of a community on your blog.

When I first seen a commentator reply to another commentator. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know if I should go ahead in reply to the first comment or leave it along. I choose to leave it along and let the commentators have their conversation. I didn’t want to be rude and step in the middle of their conversation. I know if I was talking to someone in a cafe and somebody is rude enough to step in without letting me finish I would be mad. So I left it along and now I am starting to see more and more commentators talking with other commentators. True signs of a community. Finally! lol Thanks you guys and gals for being humans that are social.

Is your blog a community?

I’d like to think of my blog as a community. I haven’t gotten as far as you have (clearly, looking at all the comments on your blog :P ), but I’m working on it.

My blog is not much a community, but a personal blog that try to speak to everyone individually as a friend.

Building a community is another great way on getting people in the community to look up for you as an expert if you show what your expertise are.

As for personal is all about sharing, inter-exchange ideal and introducing individually with one another.

That is certainly the goal and I am striving for the community feel on my blog. I agree with you when you say you can network with other bloggers even if it is not yours or their blog. I have met great bloggers this way and I have learned about great blogs by reading the comment section and then visiting their blog. Your blog is quickly becoming a destination point for bloggers that blog about blogging.

Ours is new… but I can feel a community building similar to this one. Hopefully, many of us can all stay friends for years to come and build a really large and strong community :)

At least that is what I am hoping!

Yeah, I notice that many bloggers overlook the fact they can network with other bloggers in the comment area. I have notice that bloggers are coming here for blogging tips. I will try to expand on that to help with marketing, making money from blogging, and networking with other bloggers.

My blog is yet a strong community but there are friends that I knew online joining the discussion in my blog, can be considered as a small community I guess? Anyway, this is one of the reason why people build a blog, what they want is getting new friends and build a community within the relevant field. Anyway, I enjoy what I’m doing right now. :)

Also, great to know you Deneil!

Regards,
Lee
