As an internet entrepreneur and marketer. It can get really hard to come up with articles to submit to sites like ezinearticles. The hardest challenge I have ever done and failed at was the article marketing challenge. 10 articles a day everyday for 30 days is a little over my head. I got some traffic to my review site abd the traffic was going to the products but didn’t land any sales. Next time I try the article marketing challenge, I will make sure to outsource all the articles.
Ok, doing article marketing for your blog on the other hand, does not take so many articles. If you want to do the article marketing challenge to promote your blog that is fine as well. Article marketing for your blog is more for building backlinks. You will get some traffic and maybe some new subscribers but your focus is backlinks with author text.
I know what you thinking though, how can I keep coming up with blog post ideas daily and write articles to submit to ezinearticles? Well this is where simple thinking, great rewriting, and leveragering your blog comes into play. Find 5 posts you think really is great and on topic of your blog.
Now that you got your 5 blog posts, you are going to rewrite those 5 blog posts targeting different keywords but related keywords. You don’t want these articles out ranking your blog posts in the search engines now do we? Also make sure these articles are a minimum of 350 words and completely unique or ezinearticles will reject them. Trust me, it happen to me more than once.
Submit those 5 new articles to ezinearticles with at least 2 links with author text in the resource box. So you will have 2 backlinks per article with 5 articles for a total of 10 backlinks. Yes, there are dofollow so their helping with your off site SEO.
My advise is do this once a month with a minimum of 5 articles and I am sure it will help you rank for the keywords you are after. As I always say Let your desire drive your motivation.
What do you think of article marketing for your blog?

That’s funny. I actually just wrote and submitted 3 articles to ezine earlier today. I have found that the traffic all depends on the topic. For example, I get a lot of traffic when I write areticles in support of my teen job board but when I write about blogging topics, not so much. Anyway, like you said the backlinks with anchor text make it all worth while.
I’ve read a lot suggesting that article marketing is still a very good component of the overall SEO picture but I have to admit I have shied away from it so far. I struggle with exactly the point you make – how to keep coming up with the ideas. There are a number of sites out there that give you credits for writing articles as well. Again these sites are moderated so the quality of the articles needs to be good, but on some of them you can then get a share of ad revenue from the article sites I believe. I guess it would never amount to much, but it would be an added incentive.
When rewriting your blog posts to submit to ezinearticles. Research keywords to use that is related to the keywords in your blog posts.
For example, if you used the keywords “playing with cats” in your blog post.
In your article you want to use “how to play with cats” or “playing with hyper cats”
Don’t over stuff your article with keywords but don’t be shy to use keywords within your article.
Great tip. The idea of writing articles is a bit daunting (I like your idea of outsourcing in the future), but you’re right, the work was already done in the blogs, just need to expand it further.
I have a question though. When you say ‘targeting different keywords but related keywords’, what are you saying exactly? Also, sorry to be retarded, but how would you ‘target’ those keywords. I’m assuming that the backlink will only be available with author information? I’ve never messed with ezinearticles.
Thanks!
hanji
Thanks for this post.
I haven’t heard about ezine before.
That’s right, Ezine accepts quality articles. The articles got to be original as well. Ezine is a great way to get backlinks. By the way, Read your interview on Toan’s blog. Seems like you have a lot of secrets.
Article marketing is great. In all honesty though, writing becomes quite tedious after a while. Even for my self — I type roughly 110WPM to 120WPM, and even I get lazy and don’t feel like writing sometimes. Nonetheless, I tell myself that it will help my website in the long run. My next goal is to get Platinum Status from Ezine.
Cool, I really haven’t gotten into article marketing yet. Is Squidoo considered article marketing?
I did submit one article to Ezine but I thought that you could submit content that was on your blog.):
Article Marketing is a great way to get back-links to any of your sites. As with most bloggers it is hard enough to get your own blog post out each day however. Even though we write all our own posts, as you really need your blog to reflect your personality, it is not as important (IMO) when it comes to writing articles for the main purpose of getting back-links from Article Directories. We use a service call need-an-article.com and they write great articles about anything you want. They charge $10 a month to be a member. Then it is something like $5.40 per article and they do really quality work. If you don’t have time, but you have a little cash for marketing… that might be an option.
Yeah, when you in the writing mood. It’s easy to crank out up to around 10 articles.
Yeah, their serious about who they upgrade. All we can do is keep submitting new articles.
Finance Advisory Stop, For blog post I do a 300 word minimum unless its a post of one of my poems. For article marketing I do a 350 word minimum.
Hey Deneil, if I post an article that is a complete copy of my blog post, will it affect my search engine results?
Writing 10 articles per day for 30 days is insane. Unless you you’re full time online and don’t have to spend time on running your current business that is going to be an impossible task if you’re not either outsourcing or writing total crap articles
As for your statement about articles submitted to EA I think you’re underestimating the traffic that EA can send to your site. Sometimes it can be worth a lot more than the backlink you’re going to get.
/Mikael
@ Mikael,
I guess it comes down to your typing speed — and how fast you can put your thoughts down. I, personally, have no problem writing a 500 word article in 15 or so minutes. Once I start, things just flow. Then again, everyone works at their own pace.
Alright thanks Deneil. Usually mines are around 500-600. I think that’s a bit too long. I think somewhere between the range of 300-400 is best.
I can’t remember exactly where I heard of ezinearticles.com but I know it was recently, it’s still on my forever growing to do list.
Thanks for this post. Article marketing is one of the powerful method that can create back links to our site. Back links from from article marketing are great help for SEO. I do article / seo marketing for small local business to promote their products or services. I really appreciate your great tips!
You welcome, I think that is cool that you do SEO for local businesses. I am sure I could make a lot money from doing that as well but I would feel like an employee rather than an entrepreneur.
Thanks for the post. I know I have heard of ezine, but I have yet to have a spare moment to check it out. Perhaps since I just read about it again here I’ll take out a moment and head over there
You welcome, you should give it a try Christa. I really recommend rewriting some of your posts and submitting them to ezine with at least 2 backlinks with author.
You have shown a great way to promote the sites. But i think the content of article should be own and original otherwise such sites like ezine will not give the agitation of your article, am i right or wrong?
lol, yeah there are some topics that just drives traffic to your blog. Do you think that article marketing resulted in new subscribers?
Yes, the backlinks from article marketing are great for SEO. To keep from running out of ideas, I just rewrite my blog posts for a brand new article.
It really helps. I don’t know what article sites give you credits but I do know of 2 great article sites to build passive income. I will be doing a case study with one of them.
You welcome. Give it a try. I am sure you will do fine.
What do you mean by “Seems like you have a lot of secrets.”
Yeah, I get lazy myself. This is why when I am in the mood to write, I write a lot of articles for my blog. This keep me from going day to day having to write 1 article a day.
Yeah, I still have yet to get my platinum status at ezinearticles. I hope that the next few articles I submit will do it.
Ya, I think I’m going to start doing the same. I do get those days where I actually feel like writing. I better start using those days to the best of my advantage.
As for Ezine, I have 35 submissions, but they rejected my request for Platinum Membership — all because one of my submissions had an error in the title. They seem to be quite strict on upgrading accounts.
I think AffSphere was one of the sites that offered credits. I didn’t look too closely at it so I may be wrong but I think it’s a sort of scheme where you get to share some of the ad revenue from the pages that have your articles on them.
I would say its article marketing because you still using articles to build backlinks. I may have to come up with a few articles to place on Squidoo.
To submit to ezinearticles it must be unique articles. Just do a rewrite of your blog posts and you’re fine.
Yeah, that’s true. Btw Deneil, how long are the articles you usually write (for article marketing purposes, not for your blog)?
Out sourcing the article writing for article marketing is great. I would recommend everyone to do so if their budget allows them to do so.
Their not to long, You just need to make the article flow to a call to action in the resource box. Make the text in the resource box as part of the article with a nice call to action.
Thanks Deneil. I’ll keep that in mind from now on.
You welcome, keep this in mind. Knowledge is power but its useless if you don’t apply it.
Yes it will. That’s if some type of luck that they approve your article. Its duplicate content and search engines really don’t like this at all. They will most likely de-index one of the pages or worst, both of those pages.
I really don’t think writing 10 articles a day is that far fetched. Then again, it depends — I’m in high school and have the summer off, so obviously I have more time than the majority of bloggers.
10 articles a day for 30 days isn’t insane. Easy for some and hard for others. Sadly its hard for me. I know a few marketers that write half and outsource half to complete this challenge.
I don’t underestimate the traffic from EA, I just down played it to focus on the backlinks that we can get.
Maybe I am a slow writer
I would assume that you would need AT LEAST 30 minutes to write a decent article and probably more. That means that you’re going to need to find at least 5 hours in a day where you’re not doing anything else.
If you have that much free time you’re spending to little time running your business in the first place
lol, I think you are right.
But can you do it 10 times in a row? Coming up with a good topic that you are knowledgeable about and writing it down in 15 minutes can definitely be done, but doing it 10 times in a row, each day for 30 days is a different story (IMO). And then you will also need to factor in that you don’t always know that much about the niches you built sites in (or at least I don’t).
You got me there Mikael
I thought I was the only one with a “to do” list that never seem to get small but GROW! I am trying my best to knock some of the stuff off my “to do” list this week.
