How To Use A Link Love Post For Promotion

by Deneil Merritt on August 11, 2009

Since I been catching up on my blog commenting. I had a really big Flashback Monday post. People was really shock to see some many links. They didn’t even notice 2 links didn’t work. I fixed them right before I started writing this blog post. With this blog post, I am going to teach you how to use your weekly “link love” blog post as a promotional tool. Networking with more and more bloggers I come across more and more articles that are very useful or down right entertaining. Sometimes I have nothing to say so I will not post a comment but I do stumble it. My way of keeping track of what is going into my Flashback Monday post.

So with that being said, let me get into how I use my Flashback Monday (link love) post as a promotional tool. First it start off as normal, I am blog commenting or a friend shares a article with me. I read it, I may or may not comment on it but I will stumble it either way. That’s because its going in my weekly blog post. Most of the time its lot traffic blogs or blogs that are starting to grow like mine. Once I place their link in my weekly blog post, they get a trackback on their blog post with a backlink to my blog post.

Once they get to my blog and read the Flashback Monday post, they realize this is a weekly blog post and they want to make sure they get more articles into the weekly blog post. So what do they do? First they thank me for the backlink, then they subscribe to the blog RSS feed or grab my free ebook, then they do what most of us do to promote in the first place. They start blog commenting. Now everybody here knows I try to comment on all the blogs that comment on my blog. So this allow them to gain a new reader and hopefully get more links in the weekly post.

So the formula is: high quality weekly link love posts + targeting low traffic blogs = More traffic and new readers.

I hope this help those that have a weekly “link love” blog post going on.

Nice formula Deneil. It seems to be working quite well for you. I think I’m going to start having a weekly/bi-weekly roundup of some sort.

Instead of getting link from others, linking out to other blog is really a cool way to build friendship too. Indirectly, you could get more new loyal readers to your blog too. I’ve seen many people were doing Weekly link love blog post too, I’m going to give it a try too. :)

Thanks for the idea Deneil!

Lee

I think I follow the same formula. I visit people who leave comments and visit their site. Find an interesting article and add it to my list.

I also follow other commentators on other blogs and see if their site is cool or if I can use some of their info. I know my commentators on my site and usually pick ones from other sites that I don’t know. I might even sign up to their email updates if their site is interesting.

BTW, I see you found my email about the footer. Try and pay Alex the $5 to remove his link, but thats your choice. Also try and add some images into the footer as well as it looks a bit dull. This is just my opinion, use or don’t use it, it’s your choice.

I do much the same thing. I even started the ‘F Group’ for those who decided to follow my you comment I comment back movement.

And with all that you have going on you still manage to get so much done. That is itself is quite an achievement.

Nice stratigy wll have to try, also like the footers. I am realizing more and more that next month is time for real theme and overhaul of my layout.

This is a really good and simple method to gain a lot of attention. Since most of us spend a lot of time reading others blogs, why not combine it into a weekly round-up just like you? Beginning in the end of this month I’m going to link back to all the posts where I was mentioned. Hopefully this will also result in more backlinks.

Glad you like it. When making a series you want to pick weekly or bi-weekly and stick to it.

Yeah, I sent you an email. I don’t mind the link. We all need backlinks. Good idea. I seen your footer. It looks amazing.

That’s all we can do is do our best. Im we both can make a difference in our own ways.

It could be better, but not many want to make the commitment.

I understand why. I try my best to comment on all the blogs that comment on mine but sometimes I have too many projects going on. Plus a lot of people leverage that. (Well I know I do)

I do my best. If I can get a hold on my time management I am sure I could get a lot more done and make a lot more money.

Yes Deneil, I just tried to link out to others in my latest post, I need to check the result after few days too. No matter how, link to relevant and useful resources is always good to our readers, no harm at all. :)

Lee
