Friendfeed Subcribers Added To Feedburner Subscribers Count

by Deneil Merritt on June 21, 2009

Your friendfeed subscribers now count in your feedburner subscribers count. Some people are totally hate this idea and others are loving it because of the boost in their number. As you can see here on my blog. I for one can careless either way.

I been commenting on other blogs as normal and seen this topic. I almost comment on all the bloggers that commented on the big name blogs. I came across different feelings about this topic. I am going to show you the pros and cons of the friendfeed subscribers added to the feedburner subscribers count.

Pros:
You know that your blog posts are seen by more people when you add it to your friendfeed account, which leads to bloggers having a bigger subscriber count.

Cons:
Advertisers don’t see the true amount of subscribers you have to your blog.

Well to clear things up and make it easier for everybody. Since this really balls down to advertisers wanting to see the true number of subscribers. I am going to show you why it doesn’t matter that the friendfeed subscribers are added to your feedburner subscriber count.

Advertisers should focus more on the amount of traffic and pageviews a blog gets in a month rather than the amount of readers they have. I know you wondering why I would say that. The thought is really simple. Branding reasons. The more people see and click on your banners and links they will know your product or services.

Daily blog readers become blind of the advertisements. They do not see them. Its the random visitor who clicks on your ad and buys your service or product. That’s why you such be more focus on the blogger visitors and not their subscribers count.

Now that its settled, I read that many people don’t know how to add their blog RSS feed to their friendfeed account. I know those of you that have maybe be thinking how dumb are these people. Well some people really don’t look around in their account or just have a hard time with some websites. OK, some are dumb. I am guessing very few though.

How to add the blog RSS feed into friendfeed account?

After I am done teaching you how to do this, please do not slap yourself. Just take the time to say “oh I get it” I repeat do not slap yourself. lol

Step one: Sign up to friendfeed

Step two: Go to friendfeed.com/yourusername

Step three: Click on “Click/Edit” and click on “Blog” please your blog url in the slot and click “Import Blog”

You are done. Now your blog RSS feed is in your friendfeed account. All your friendfeed subscribers can see when a blog post has just been published. You can also add all the other services you use such as twitter, digg, stumbleupon, etc. While you are there subscribe to my friendfeed. :)

How do you feel about the friendfeed subscribers added to your feedburner subscribers count?

A good Feeddburner number definitely helps attract more people to your blog… Its’ like this success attracts success… so a higher number does attract more people and more numbers will subscribe..

With regards to friendfeed, I think it’s kinda deceiving

Cheers

You right, success attracts success.

I always said people relay on the subscribers count far too much. People such relay on traffic numbers. Well I have nothing to worry about with this though. I don’t display my subscribers count nor do I accept advertisers. :)

You may also create a lot of account and make as if you had a lot of subscriber… that’s why I don’t rely on subscriber number that much… By the way, you don’t use goodle Adsense?!

You have a good point. That’s another reason why advertisers should not go by subscribers count.

Yes, its a very small part in my income. Why?

Yeah, people on friendfeed are more likely to subscribe to your friendfeed account. They don’t really think about it they just subscribe.
