I was going to wait to upgrade this blog to wordpress 2.8 because in the past with every release there was another release within the next 2 weeks of the release. So you never know when 2.8.1 is going to come out. I will be surprised if there is not a wordpress 2.8.1 by the end of the month.
After I upgraded my blog, I did the normal things every blogger should do. I went through all the plugins and made sure all of them worked. I made sure my theme worked which I found that it works and it does not work. While everything works the controls for the layout of this theme in the wordpress admin area does not allow me to make changes.
I will be going to a few friends and ask them can I get a custom theme made for this blog an exchange for a link with author text in the blog post about the new theme and a link with author text in the footer forever. I think this should payoff for both the designer and me.

Well this is pretty simple, a link with author text in the blog post about my new blog theme design and a link with author text in the footer forever. (Designer such really put some thought into the author text they want to rank for in the search engines)
Benefits For Me
I get a custom theme that will allow me to do the things I would like to do with this blog. I can totally focus on blogging and pump out article after article on a daily basics. (The more articles I write, the more pages indexed in google, which lead to a lot of backlinks for the designer – Designer benefit)
I think everybody such upgrade to the latest wordpress release unless plugins you need (not want) will no longer work for you. I know a lot of people run businesses with wordpress software and haven’t upgraded from wordpress 2.3 because of plugins they need. I think wordpress plugin developers need to keep their plugin up to date with the latest wordpress releases. WordPress gets better for a reason, so such your plugins.

Hi,
I think the idea of a new theme and having the designers link on the theme is a great idea. Everyone benefits from it.
As for some users still on WP 2.3, they are crazy. I would rather spend a bit more money and get someone to rewrite their specific plugins used. It would be better and safer for them.
I have not upgraded my blog till now because I have seen many people facing issues with this update..So I feel there are few glitches here which might be remove with next update and then I will update my blog

That makes sense, I don’t think they thought of it or just want it done for free. Some programmers are charging to update their free plugin to the latest wordpress release. I think that is just crazy to charge a person to update a plugin you made for 2.3 to work with 2.8 but who am I to say anything about it.
Yeah, a lot of people not upgrading their blogs. Most people afraid their plugins won’t work. I always take the risk because I like to have the latest wordpress software.
