Sorry for the delay of this post and the lack of posting here my friends. I was busy with my poker blog and also had to wait until one of my affiliate accounts updated. Now that everything is done let me tell you what I have been up to with my other websites.

My poker blog has been fun to run lately. I have been updating it as much as I can and the traffic is growing because of it. So I will keep at it there. I still don’t know when I will get the custom design done but hopefully the traffic coming in now will pay for it. Can’t wait to see that site purple and white.

My poker news site hasn’t been updated as much as my poker blog but I am getting there though. I made a deal with one of my writers so that we both can profit from the site. I just have to wait and see how many people order our service. Other then that the traffic has been growing so I guess I am gaining more and more readers. I tried to get it into google news but got turned down because I was the only writer at the time. So I will wait to resubmit the site until I can afford to pay at least 2 full time writers.

Now for my big rakeback project. Since I haven’t been link building for it the rankings have dropped but I did get a chance to finally get a coder to match the forum to the site and open the poker forums. Now I just have to run a few promotions to get the forum going and from there I will have a little fun with forum vs forum tournaments against the forum I sponsored. Great group of guys at that poker forum.

As you can see it was a low month. Not a problem as I was more focus on getting more content on all 3 poker sites. Also, you may have notice that google adsense was removed. They does allowed my fighting site so the last 3 or 4 days of June I replaced them with adbrite. So hopefully the income will be a lot more than the normal $2 to $5 a month from google adsense.

Now my plans for the rest of the month will be completely focused on 3 things but mainly 2 things.

1. Playing a lot more poker and blogging about it on my poker blog.
2. Running promotions for RBR to get people active on the site.
3. Finding clients to keep my writer busy so the poker news site will bring in an income and most importantly always be updated.

Man this time of the month came really quick. So many things went on this month it almost was a disappointing month. However, I believe it’s the most work I have gotten done in one month. I spent more time working on getting things done then focus on pulling in short term income. From that I had a bit of a money depression or something because the last half week of the month I tried almost everything to pull in more money. Lucky a three advertisers contacted me which resulted in adding a nice chunk to the direct ad sells.

While I did do over $100 in content writing services. I realize why I don’t like selling content. I much prefer using the content on my sites or using it for article marketing. Also, sometimes the content sits there listed without a bite for awhile before it sells. Which leaves me with the thoughts about using the content for myself! So in June I guess I will be using all the content I produce. I’m not giving up on replacing my direct ad income with content writing. I just don’t want to go into the thoughts of I should have used that article not sold it. In June I am going to produce the same amount or more content and put it to good use to see if I feel much better doing that.

May Goals
I know in the May Goals post I listed a few goals I wanted to complete in May. I am proud of what I got done. However, I know I could have done much better. I just need to clear my mind. I notice I have been having problems focusing on work, poker, and even texting on the phone. More on that later. Let’s see what I completed and what I didn’t complete.

The first goal was produce 10,000 new words of content. Didn’t matter which site of mine I place it on, didn’t matter if I use it for article marketing, or sold it. So how did I do? I stop counting after I reached 10k words. A lot of the articles was hanging around the 600 words mark. I did a few for my rakeback/limit holdem site that was over 1k each. So reaching this goal was easier than I thought. Maybe 20k or 30k would have been a real goal. 10k words was far too easy.

My second goal was revamping my poker community site into a poker news site. Well this job is a big project. With zero funds to revamp the design right now. I have focus on revamping the sidebar on different pages, adding a ad slot within the news posts which was very easy since I use oiopublisher, and I move the news to the homepage. So google can notice the site is being updated daily.

Ok, my next goal was very disappointing. The only keywords I reach on the first page in google was for the sites name. I know google did a lot of updates to their systems last month so a lot of people seen drops in traffic while others got a really nice boost in traffic. Since this is not a to being first for keywords. I am ok with not completing this goal. I am sure I will start ranking for keywords as time pass. I still have a few things to do with branding and producing content before I go full force with my backlink building efforts.

My last goal for May was to finish the follow up emails for the newsletter of the new site with aweber. I finish that within a day or so. It was pretty easy since I like to send subscribers back to the site with each email. Completing this so quick allowed me to come up with more goals in the half way through the month post.

I made the twitter, facebook, and youtube accounts for the site. Feel free to click and check them out if you want. I have some work to do to customize the fan page. Also, the channel will fill up with videos pretty soon as I get the intro done for the videos. Oh, I almost forgot. I also got the banners done for the site. Check out the 468×60 banner below. This month I am not going to post the most viewed posts and traffic for this blog. I realize it’s just a waste of my time since I don’t post very often. I said I was going to do more posts this past month but I didn’t. This month, I will be posting what I am doing with the new site so that should get me back into the blogging mood. Wow, its that time again already? This month went by so fast however I pulled in the highest amount of income of the year so far. I am really happy about that but at the same all that money was spent on content, logo, and design for my new poker site. I still have a lot of work to do on it before I start promoting it so my income just might take a big blow next month. May should pull in a minimum of $400+ since that’s what I average each month from selling direct ads.

I still have a few websites to sell before I can completely give all my time to blogging about my poker career on my poker blog, building a poker community, and my latest project which will be my biggest income source once I get everything completed and promote it. This week the new design will be live on the site. Tell me what you think of it.

I am really happy how it turned out. My web designer even came up with an idea to place the logo on hats and tshirts. Since he and I was so pleased with the way the logo turned out. He even made me an example on how it would look.

I am pretty sure I could come up with a promotion giving away hats and tshirts. Let me know what you guys and gals think of the idea of selling my own clothing line. Now with that out of the way, let’s get into the traffic stats of this blog and the income report of my network.

In The Mind Of Deneil Merritt…
Wow, what a month. I don’t know what I was thinking but for some reason it all make sense. I was thinking to myself. Why have so many websites making very little money and have to build backlinks for them all? When I can just focus on a few and sell the rest. So I sold 3 websites and should have the others sold soon. Not sure though. One of them I just might keep. It’s so close to ranking on the first page to start making money. So I don’t know, I am starting to lean towards keeping it. Two or three weeks link building everyday should be the boost it needs. So you never know what will happen.

Since I really like the way the new site design came out. I plan on hiring Eduardo ( eyenod ) for all my website designs. So after I get the design live and start promoting the site and save up some more money. I will have this blog as well as my poker blog revamp with a new design. I got an idea for this blog that just might put me back into the blogging mood.

Speaking of blogging. I will be blogging more often as I need to write stuff down. I will be going over things as I work on them and give a few tips or resources to apply to your own niche site. I have some big plans for my niche site so I am sure everyone will find at least one or two resources or tips useful.

Wow, this month just blew by. I can’t say I was really productive this month towards the business. I did most stuff before the 15th which includes selling ads and flipping a website. The rest of the month I was mostly productive towards getting my ex girlfriend back, talking with her, and spending time with her. I told her how I felt about her, told her about me deciding to move to Denver (Yes, I change my mind about moving to Vegas), and I did the unthinkable. I asked her to move with me. She didn’t give me an answer yet so you going to have to wait and see what happens. I guess we all on the edge of our sits about that one. Someone pointed out that I shouldn’t post the url’s to websites I sold ads on for a few reasons and I know their right. In The Mind Of Deneil Merritt…
This month has been awesome in a few ways. First off, working things out with the woman I love is the most important thing to me. Just thinking about us spending time with each other puts a smile on my face. Since I am in such a great mood. I have no doubt in my mind April is going to be a income record breaker. The record was set in July 2009 at $1,363. April I am going to shoot for a minimum of $2k.

Second reason this month was awesome. Affiliate marketing is starting to pay off. A page on one of my poker websites ranks for a lot of keywords and signups a lot of players and I am hoping the trend continues with a few of my mini sites. As most of you know, I want to make at least 80% of my income from affiliate marketing and not ad sales. Even though I am really good at selling ads. Which is why for now on, I will be putting a minimum of 50% of my ad sales income towards SEO, content, and design for my websites.

3 months into the year. 1/4 of the year over and I am averaging a little under $900 a month. Nice start for the year. If I am going to reach my goal of a minimum of $2k a month. I am going to have to put in some serious productive hours. I got an idea on how to go about reaching this goal. So it shouldn’t be a problem but you never know.

So far this year, I have made a total of $2,619.72 and to reach my goal of averaging a minimum of $2k a month. I will need to make $2,375 a month for the rest of the year. For some that is nothing and others like myself. It’s like a mountain to climb. With my desire driving my motivation there is nothing I can’t do. So I say lets get to climbing!

This past month was a battle for me business, health, and emotionally. Even though the month was very short it was jam pact with a lot of work and I even played some poker. The poker didn’t go so well but the business sure did on the count of people wanting to help out with my health. I went to the doctor (finally) I been having some chest pains for about 6 months. So I went to the doctor and he wants me to go to a heart specialist because he didn’t look how the text came out. With no health insurance, the cost can really get up there really quickly. So I put myself in high gear selling direct ads. This to helpful caring people at PAL. I will be able to get health insurance. I will teach on the emotional part later. As you can see the thought of something being wrong (a few times I thought about death) made me really produce this past month. Just shy of that $1,000 mark. In The Mind Of Deneil Merritt…
Last thoughts on business before I get into the personal stuff. I have a plan to take this month to the next level and push pass $1,000. Most likely the income will be made in late March as my plan is put into action throughout the month. Im sure everybody will like the numbers and have a few questions.

Last thoughts on health. It may have taken me a lot of pain and freaking out to finally kick my business in gear but I went against what I tell anybody which is health is most important and health comes first. As a young person we don’t really give it too much thought since we feel we are healthy. I can tell you I no longer think that way. Since seeing the doctor my chase pains are worst. I have one thing to handle and I will go see the heart specialist soon. I will keep everybody updated on whats going on and hopefully it’s nothing serious. (HOPEFULLY!)

Now what’s been up with me emotionally. We all know I went through somethings with my ex-girlfriend before finally getting over her. I even joined to work it out with her but she had other things in mind. But this has nothing to do with last month. The one woman I always said was the best for me contacted me on facebook of all places. After 6 years she walks back into my life. Sadly she has a boyfriend but I am just happy to be her friend again. lol the old me wouldn’t care about her relationship but I respect her relationship since I am trying to be a better person in this world than what I use to be. I always get what I want sooner or later so only time will tell with my business, health, and on going romantic drama that my life has become.

This past month was a blast. I set my goal to make $500 and blew that out of the water, I had my birthday which was a pretty fun day, and my mentor bought me this book called the great salesmen in the world. Because of him and that book, I stayed focus and got myself in high gear working my butt off. I wouldn’t trade him for another mentor even if you tried to pay me a million bucks. Pretty good traffic since I don’t post here much. Maybe I should take the time to write out 30 articles and set them to post 1 a day. Don’t know what I will write about though. In The Mind Of Deneil Merritt…
Let’s see what’s going through my mind about last month and plans for this month. I couldn’t be happier about the income. Really got me looking forward to this month. My birthday was pretty fun and I played poker live for the first time a few days after. I played like 3 days in a row. Lost around $120 lol. My mentor bought me the book “The Greatest Saleman In The World” and I must say, I love it and recommend it to anyone trying to get a grab hold of their business. On a personal note, I finally kicked my ex-gf out my life for good. No she is not even my bestfriend anymore.

Now my plans for this month. Where to begin? Let’s start with the mini sites. The mini site I made to promote Reefer Poker is doing ok the search engines. Ranks #7 at the moment, this month I’ll do my best to push that up to #3. My mini site I made to promote the sun poker bonus finally hit the first page of google. This month I will do my best to push it from #9 to #1. My other 6 mini sites in the poker niche are still in development. So this month, I plan on finishing them all.

One project I place on hold since the summer received a sign up a few days ago. I thought it was odd until I check to see where it ranked. (#1 for its name) So I guess I will have to put some effort into this project some time during this month. I know some of you are going to ask what is it. It’s a membership site that teaches you how to flip websites and blogs. I will not say the domain name just yet because I will get a ton of sign ups I just don’t need right now. I have 3 modules planned out. I will do my best to complete module #1 by the end of the month.  I know all of you are sick of these membership sites with a monthly bill. So tell me a price you would like to pay yearly (any price you want) and ill think about it.

I made a mini site/blog about how to get started in poker affiliate marketing to help my MLM marketer friends get started. So I will be posting 1 to 3 new articles on it per month as I learn more stuff. So far what I learn in the poker niche is the same as any other niche. However, their CTA (call to action) are a lot more define and their SEO skills are far better then any other niche. I am pretty happy almost all of them are not moving into non-gambling niches. They would take over the first page rankings of many of my non-gambling affiliate marketer friends.

Now onto my baby (Poker Commercials), this is the biggest project I have ever planned. Funny thing is, my budget is no where near the amount I need to complete it. So as always, if you don’t have a budget to pay for something. You have to think of other ways to get things done. Which is what I am going to do. I have enough for the software (since im moving away from wordpress with this one), so I will cut deals for the content. I will have to build a budget for the videos, promotions, and etc. Lucky, this is a year long project so no need to worry about things. I got it all figured out.

December was a slow month for earnings but a lot of work behind the scenes. So much work went on preparing for this month. So we will see how those things turnout. Also, I play and study alot of poker to become better. So I know what I am talking about when posting on my poker blog and on my poker forum. So December was the month I put in alot of poker hours, could be the most poker hours I have ever put in. However, that’s another story. Lets get into the stats.

In The Mind Of Deneil Merritt…
As you can see, I didn’t do much. Just under $200. I know I could have done a lot more but most of my hours went towards playing poker. Studying what I am doing right and what I am doing wrong. Which help me explain somethings for my players and help them become better. This year, I know there will be alot more success for my small network of websites.

My poker blog is growing since I have been active posting poker strategies, news, and events. This year I plan on taking a more personal view with my poker blog by posting my bankroll status each week or month and launch the online poker tour on it. So the growth will be never ending.

my poker forum is growing. More and more members are starting to become more active. This is a long term project so it will take 6 months to a year before I get it to anywhere near where it should be. Until then I will keep at it. One nice little boost is the poker blog and forum are linked to each other. If you look at their menus. Both sites are linked.

my fight entertainment site pretty much killing it without me updating it. Last income report, adsense was around $4 and now its down to $2. However, just check out the ebay network earnings. Yes, the earnings just keep getting higher. I will try to update this site whenever I get the chance too. Would love to see the monthly earnings from this reach $100.

This blog, well this blog has never been the driving focus behind my earnings. It has made a few affiliate sales. However, that has never been proven. It could easily been from my free ebook.  This blog will stay my place to speak my mind. Never think that I gave up blogging. Just had nothing to say here for awhile. On that note, tomorrow I will be posting my 2010 plans and goals. Both personal and professional.

This month was pretty sweet. I got to really get a lot of work done on my poker sites. Which so far is going pretty well. The web hosting business was put on hold for now. That’s ok since I am really focused on poker. I think this niche is perfect for me. I am happy writing about poker, playing poker, and most of all, connecting with other poker players and affiliates. As you can see, the income is around what it normally be. Now all I need to do is focus on keeping it around this income and bring in more income month after month. Which shouldn’t be a problem since I am doing what I love. Reading, writing, studying, and playing poker. If any of you are poker players. Lets go over strategies in my poker forum. I can talk about poker all day long. However, I am not going to do that right now.

In my personal life. Things are starting to change. I am still pretty sad about leaving my ex girlfriend. However, I think it may have been for the best. My good friend in Canada is always been a good friend and try to keep a smile on my face. I should visit her one of these days. Not sure when though. Depends on the income in the next going months. Plus I don’t want to be in Canada in the winter. lol Sorry, I am a Florida guy. Lots of warm weather. I also recently made a friend and she is pretty cool. I like talking to her. She makes me laugh a lot. Which is always a good thing in my eyes. We shall see how long she stays in my life.

In The Mind Of Deneil Merritt…
This past month was a very long month for me. I didn’t make posts on here. I spent my time preparing websites for sale. I took about the path I was taking to make money and notice it wouldn’t make me happy and it would take too long to make a full time income. I did some research on starting a web hosting business and this seem like the smartest path I can take for my online business. The hardest part of running a web hosting business in my eyes is providing great support 24/7. After a month or 2 of hard work and a ton of promotion. I am sure I can afford to hire a few people to provide support around the clock.

I know so of you thinking why am I making these changes in my business? Well to be completely truthful with you as always. Running so many websites by myself is not providing me enough money nor enough time to follow my passion. I love playing poker and throughout this past month. I spent some time to play a lot of poker! It really help me clear my mind and know what I want for me and my business. I just want to run a business that brings in a nice income monthly and have time to play poker.

So here’s my plan…
Start an web hosting business and promote via free methods. Unlike normal business owners making money. I will not save money for an advertising budget. I will save money to buy other web hosting businesses. (Nice way to get fast growth) Since my goal is $10,000 monthly income. (Just like in the footer) I will be working really hard to grow my business.

I am thinking about taking on a partner for the web hosting business. There’s one person I trust enough to go into their web hosting business with for a number of reasons. Him and Italk every week. We use to talk everyday however our projects got in the way. Who I am I talking about? Caden of course. He’s a good friend of mine and I trust him 100% to be my partner. It’s really hard to gain my trust because I have trust issues. Life made me not trust people.

Now the other half of my business. I have a poker blog to blog about my passion. I have a poker website/forum about poker commercials, tournaments, and online poker rooms. I will take around $100 or so from my web hosting business profits to buy my membership into outstanding poker and to play poker with. I will be blogging about how the poker training program help me become a profitable poker player. I will also be posting my big wins and bad beats in the poker forum. With my winnings I will be hosting poker tournaments to grow the poker forum. This will get players signing up to the training program and online poker rooms I promote on my sites. The training program is a clickbank product and the poker rooms pay up to 40% revenue share for life!

So that is my plan to make $10,000 a month. Short term (first 3 months) I am thinking the revenue would be at least $1k – $3k. Depending on how much promotion I can do and how many other hosting businesses I can buy. Long term (year or so) I am sure the hosting business alone will be well over $10k a month. As for the poker side of my business. I would say short term (first 3 months) up to $500 or so. Long term (year or so) my poker affiliate accounts will bring in well over $10k a month easy.

With that being said. I will not be working on anything else. I know some of you wondering where does that leave this blog? Well I will blog about how business is going but this blog will slowly become more about me, my life, and less about making money online.

In other news, I recently broke off my 3 year relationship. If you and I are friends on facebook, you already knew that.  With all the changes being made to my business and me now being single. I feel like I am starting life over in a sense. You know? The pain is still there from my “past” life but my new life looks so nice I don’t have time to let the “past” life get to me.

As you can see the income is the lowest it has ever been. It’s a good reason for that. I wasn’t focus on making money this past month. I started out focus on making money this month. Then the internet outage and slow getting back to work. I realize somethings and I wanted to learn more. So For the past 3 weeks I have been researching and studying how to do the following.

I researched and studied how to build a mailing list. I already knew about 3 methods and now I know a lot more. I am going to put 2 or 3 methods into one site and see how that turns out. It does mean I will have to launch another ebook but I am fine with that. Should be another great learning experience. Hopefully I do it right and everything goes well.

I researched and studied how to set up a membership site. I didn’t realize how many membership sites there was teaching you about membership sites. Funny thing is if you search hard enough anything you find in a membership site you can find for free. I know you maybe thinking why people buy memberships then. Well for one reason, they can find the information they need in one place. Not 1,000′s of websites. With that being said, my membership site is going to be great. Since we all know it’s going to be about building a mailing list. I decided to do a few case studies. I will need a few people to teach and show as case studies in my membership site. So if you are on my mailing list. Keep an eye out for that email.

Last but not least, I researched and studied how to handle pre-launch, launch, and post launch. Now I know how to create a buzz about a product before the launch (pre-launch), create a lot of buzz day of the launch and make a lot of money, and make a lot of post launch profits. So no matter if its pre-launch, launch, or post launch. I will be creating buzz for the product. Funny thing about this is I learned all of this from researching on how to build a mailing list.

I learned something I think is really important  and everybody should learn it too. In Pat’s threes laws of business and success: Law #2. He talks about this formula or some simple math that made me really think about my business. Since my business don’t make enough monthly to hire someone for full time. I have decided to sell off all the websites I put on the back burner. Even my small niche sites. Everything must go unless it fits into my bigger plan or the big picture.

With all that being said, none of the goals was completed. For this month I will not set any goals. I have written my tasks for this month and will do my best to complete them all. My main focus is being as productive as I can.
