Blog Comment System

by Deneil Merritt on July 3, 2009

I know some of you already read this on my other blog. I have did a revamp of the best blog comment system out there. This time I am going to do a full “how to” on the blog comment system. If any of you thinking this is some software or a way to auto comment (spam) on blogs. Then you are wrong and you need to slap yourself for even thinking I would do that or provide you with the tools to do that.

I needed to put together a blog comment system to keep track of all the blogs I read, a quick way to fill in the form(name, email, and url), and most importantly not have my email inbox full of replies to my comments.

I been using this blog comment system for about 6 or 7 months now and its great. I know some of you comment on the same blogs as me and maybe sick of seeing me every where. :)

Blog Comment System Requirements

Gmail
You are going to need a gmail account. This is very important for your inbox not to get full of replies. When I first started this system, I was using a hotmail account which would fill up with replies from big name blogs. Gmail has a feature that sends all those replies from that one post into one email unlike other email systems such as hotmail. (ERRR!!!)

Feed Demon
This feed reader is great. I must have over 100 blogs in my feed demon. I set all of them in selected folders such as dofollow, commentluv, top commentator, etc. Trust me I need to keep things easy for me to remember. I comment on a lot of blogs, not just in the make money online and blogging niches.

Little tip for make money online and blogging niche bloggers. Market to all the blogs outside your niche. Those bloggers are trying to learn how to blog better and make money from blogging. People within your niche are trying to teach people how to blog and make money from blogging.

EasyComment
For those of you using firefox, you are in luck because firefox is the only browser I use. You are going to need the add-on EasyComment or something similar to it. This allows you to fill in the comment form with one click.

When you put all 3 of these things together you got the perfect blog comment system. I comment on 10 – 100 blog posts a day. None of those “nice post” or “great article” type comments. I don’t like doing one line comments. I like to really speak my mind about an article. If I know I can only say “nice post” then I won’t comment on the blog post, I will just stumble it or tweet it.

This blog comment system is the reason why you see my comments everywhere you go. I love to speak my mind (Yes, even if I disagree with the post) and in return from me speaking my mind leads to more traffic, comments, and subscribers on my blog.

What do you think about my blog comment system?

Very cool Deneil! I never even thought about that before. Sure makes life much easier. I love anything that can save me time. Thanks for that great tip.

Useful tool suggestions. I already use Gmail for keeping track of comment threads and I use Google Reader for RSS feeds. Hadn’t heard of Feed Demon so I’ll check that out but Google Reader does a pretty good job. I like the idea of using something like Easy Comment as well – not something I have tried but obviously makes sense.

Awesome tip. I also run a similar “commenting routine” everyday, but certainly not as much as you–and, I use Google Reader instead.

How long does it take you to usually go through one cycle or a system? I’ve found commenting taking quite long b/c just like you, I want to make comments that contribute or expand on the post.

Thanks!

Nice system. I must say that I also use a comment system, but I do that in MS excel, without a feed reader. I have a list of blogs in excel, and I visit them almost once a day, and comment on every new post.

The biggest home run I have found all week by far is this article, simply for the Firefox add on alone. Getting it RIGHT NOW! Thank you.

I see your problem is you afraid of hackers (Which can hack into anything they want) and that google is a company that was smart enough to get to know everything about a person habits. Well you can hold off from using them but the fact is they are the best email service.

lol, google is becoming the company you see on movies that are more powerful than the government.

I think it is great. Besides the fact that I am using Googles feedreader this is the exact same system i follow.

They’re the best “free” service; let’s qualify that one.

And, just like everyone worried about Microsoft at one point, it’s not such a good thing waiting around to see the power of Google either. They’re already showing how their power can push most people around, including some governments.

I actually don’t use any of them, even though I did start up some to see what it was all about.

Thanks for sharing this. I still not using any of those. Something new for me =)

Well, what do you know, I’m pretty well using the same system, except that I use Google feed reader. It sure makes things easier when you have a reliable system.

wow deneil your the man! The advice I’ve gotten from reading your blog has been amazing! I made a big mistake when I first started and I’m still using my real e-mail. Thank goodness it’s only a hotmail account so at worst I can start moving all my personal stuff to another one and keep it.

It’s amazing you manage to comment on that many blogs. How much time do you dedicate to your blogging activities? You must spend a lot of time working your brand and marketing your ideas.

You’re really doing great but I’m assuming that statement is getting over rated!

Thanks,

Brian

Hey Deneil,

Of course, you know I use Feedreader to track my stuff, and I’m following over 200 blogs or other feeds. I decided against Gmail for some reason; I guess I just don’t trust email in that fashion for whatever my reason is. I can handle the amount of email I get, even though it’s fairly high.

Everyone has to have some kind of system to proceed; glad yours works well for you.

I currentlu use gmail and Fx and it saves me loads of time. I try my best to comment on as many blogs, but not like you. I might comment on 20 blogs on average. I will see if I can increase that number to 50.

Thanks for mentioning the Fx add on, will try it out and see how it reduces my time of commenting. Always a pleasure reading your posts, very informative and direct.

Deneil,
That is a good system you have worked out. It does seem like we are on the same circuit, i see your comments on almost all the blogs I comment on too. Great tips and I will have to refine my system a bit. I really appreciate your tip on promoting outside of the blogging niche. I definitely have to branch out a little more.

Serious bloggers and ethical link builders all have one thing in common. We have devised some kind of system to accomplish our goals quickly and effortlessly.

I just read a similar post within the last hour. It seems to be a hot topic, at least for me… today!

You have an awesome blog comment system Deneil. Anyway, I’ve bookmarked all the blogs that I do like to read them daily and leave comment if there is new post and I have something to add.
In fact, I think my domain name had been known as spam comment URL before due to excessively comment left in short time, or some one liner comments made in other blogs before. So, I do have problem in leaving comment in some other blogs right now due to their system blocked me, I can’t even submit my comment, not in their spam folder I believe.
In this case, do you know how to resolve it to make my URL becomes healthy?

Anyway, I didn’t leave one liner comment for very long time already.

Regards,
Lee

Deneil Merritt July 19, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Well you got marked as spam because of the one liners. Not all bloggers approve one liners. Sometimes I don’t approve one liners. To get off the blacklist you need to make real comments and contact the bloggers to approve your comments. after about 5 to 10 blogs. You should be off the blacklist.

Deneil Merritt July 3, 2009 at 4:51 am

Thank you, I am glad you like the system.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 3, 2009 at 4:53 am

I don’t know how much time it saves, you still have to make real comments which take time to read an article and make the comment but you welcome. :)

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 3, 2009 at 4:58 am

Sounds like you are already organized, just need the easyComment to speed up filling the comment form.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 3, 2009 at 8:49 am

I can’t really say the amount of time I take commenting. I have over 100 blogs in my feed reader. Most of them post daily or a few times a day everyday. Kind of hard to go to a blog without seeing a comment from me.

You live and you learn. Knowledge is power. Just remember the power of knowledge is useless if you don’t a apply it.

I have no idea how much time I put towards blogging. Since there are no jobs available in my area I have completely stop looking and just run my websites. I must say I do put a lot of work into this blog as I can it as a gateway to better things. Building my name as a brand goes beyond just this blog even though this blog is the center point of my brand.

If you want to know what I got plan email me. I will let you know what’s going on.

Thank you, it can never get over rated.

Mitch whatever works for you man. Everybody has their own system. I just got one question.

Why you don’t trust gmail?

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 4, 2009 at 9:41 am

Well I am able to do that many comments because I write all my articles on Sunday or Monday which leaves the rest of the week to do promotion or work on another project.

You welcome, I do my best to share useful resources. Let me know how it helps you with time commenting.

Mitch July 4, 2009 at 10:54 am

Because uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. I know way too many people who have had their Gmail accounts hacked into, and frankly, I don’t like the idea of my personal email being on Google’s servers. They record way too much stuff as it is; one can find almost anything about anyone. That’s one less thing I’d rather not have to worry about, how much of my personal conversations they’re tracking.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 4, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Yes and I think it is just great the a company can become more power than a government because its been proven time and time again that governments are not to be trusted.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 4, 2009 at 9:17 pm

Oh ok, do you have your own comment system?

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 5, 2009 at 11:47 am

Yeah, I totally agree. I think that’s what most big bloggers forget.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 5, 2009 at 7:14 pm

Yeah, I see you around in a lot of blogs as well. I came up the idea to market to bloggers outside the “make money online” and “blogging” niches from looking at who comment on big blogs within those niches. You will see some bloggers within the niche but the rest of the comments come from other niches.
