I was having a really bad day that I just had to do a video. I was planning on doing a nice welcome video for my first video but it didn’t turn out that way. I think I did what anybody in my position would have done. All my sites was down even my blog. Some of my friends told me about 5 minutes after I found out. Thank you guys for caring. My dad’s computer is just way to slow for me to keep going on that computer. I had to get a cheap laptop and fast. Lucky I found one for $399 and after I got the tech “geek” stuff done. The price was $417.89 Let’s see what happen yesterday. Please keep in mind I am not use to being in front of the camera.
Well you see how things turned out. My sites are back up, I got a new laptop, and I am thinking about changing web hosting. I do not know what to do with that. Maybe I should not have a VPS hosting account just yet. Maybe a reseller account would be better for now. My VPS hosting plan is $41 a month and if I which to a reseller hosting account at hostgator, it would be $25 a month. I would be saving $16 a month. Saving money is always good. I could use that $16 to make more money.
I always try to put my money to good use. New domain, new website, new income stream. As internet entrepreneurs we should always look for a new income stream to bring in more cash flow. Cash is king in business. It allows us to expand our empire and make more money. I guess I am trying to find reasons to switch hosting providers. I mean seriously, that down time may have cost me sales with my ebook. I do not want that to happen again.
Did I have a good day or a bad day? Should I switch hosting? Did you drive the monkey juice?

That sucks about your webhosting provider. It is always a scary time when your website is down. Thanks Greg Ellison
That’s a bummer. Having multiple servers would be good at different locations is network problems occur.

I like the addition of the video to your blog. I think I am rocking the same laptop…is that the “satellite L305-D” I really like the Toshiba’s for 400 bucks you can not go wrong…
My network income isn’t up to the point where I could maintain more than one hosting plan. I would also forget which site is where. Would not be good for me.
Yeah, videos are always good because people get to connect with you even more. lol, we are using the same laptop. “Satellite L305″ is a great laptop for its price.
Deneil,
I love the whole video thing -especially the before/after. The first part – you were obviously a bit fed up with the whole mess, man. But after you got back from BB you had a smile on your face and you looked way more relaxed.
You’ve got great stage presence, Deneil. Let’s see more video!
George
Glad you got everything back up and running without too much down time.
I’m a big fan of spreading websites around. For example I use 7 different hosts at the moment, ranging from bargain basement all the way up to dedicated. The truth is that if a host is going down then it doesn’t matter how much you pay – your site is going down with it. Using different hosts is the only solution (you also get the benefit of having websites of different class C IPs). Bluhost and Midphase are as good as any for Linux, whilst Netcetera do a fantastic Windows IIS offering.
I was wondering why the site was down yesterday. I tried a couple of times and it was fine the second time. Glad your back…
Deneil,
I have this happen to me, in fact my site was down for 4 days because for some reason my host said I vilated the terms. In translation they meant to say “Your site has way to much traffic for our over crowded shared server”. Oh well, lesson learned and I moved on.
Try this host, they been good to me and they’re very reasonable when it comes to price. bluehost.com.
Nothing worse than when your sites are down. Glad to hear everything is back and better (with your new laptop) than ever.
Great first video as well. What video editing software did you use? I really like that newspaper transition.
One of the websites I did for a client was down for a little over 24 hours because their host was doing “emergency” maintenance. I thought it was weird that they knew the exact time they would be done with it… like down to 11:18 AM.
My site with GoDaddy was down once, but that was only for maybe an hour, and they had it up and running. Every host has issues I guess, but it’s a matter of how often and how quickly they handle them.
Nice new laptop! I’m holding out till I can afford a Mac. I’m really tempted to get anything right now just to have some increased screen resolution, but I’m attempting to be patient.
I’m digging the video. It’s always nice to see the person behind a site, more than just a picture.

Hi Deneil,
can’t wait for more videos. Good job! I’ve got a webcam and video function on my digital camera, but haven’t got the guts to make a video with me in it yet. My site was down for a few minutes once and it freaked my husband out. It was back up within a few minutes though. I have high speed internet through a local company and that goes down occasionally. It makes me mad! We pay for hosting and internet, etc. and when it doesn’t work I feel gypped. Glad your day had a happy ending.
I know this exact feeling…My custom PC from Dell did the exact same thing a while back. Ever since, I’ve been working from my laptop. I prefer using a desktop, but buying a new one is definitely not an option at the moment.
Glad to see you got a new laptop and things are back up! Looking forward to the next DM Show.
Kristin, I was kind of afford to do videos and thought by buying the flip camera I would get over it but didn’t then the bad day happen and just had to speak my mind. I think the best way to get over the not having the guts to do a video is to just shoot a short video and upload it to youtube before thinking about it. I think we all freak out about our sites going down.
I agree, it is very sad when your blog is down
. If you find that your current hosting provider is not stable enough, maybe you should try out other reliable hosting.
Anyway, glad that everything is back to normal now, and have fun with your new laptop
P.S. Nice video, hope to see more videos from you.
Hey Deneil its nice to see you on the screen. I like your words that you try to put your money for good use this is really a good habit and one day it will be prove beneficial for you in future.
I am happy you like the video. My number 1 rule is to buy things from online earnings only. Since I started treating this as a business, it started paying like a business. A lot more more for long term success though.
So sorry to hear that Deneil, no wonder I couldn’t be able to visit your blog for few minutes yesterday. I think the reseller plan in Hostgator will be better and you could save up to $16 every month, you can use this money to buy any online product to improve your blog or to gain more knowledge.
Anyway, it’s great to see you in front the video, do more in future okay?
Also, congrats on your new laptop!
Regards,
Lee
I think that is what I am going to do.
Hi Deneil,
I just added you in my Facebook buddy. I try to add you in my Linkedin but it requires your email.
Anyway, I thought it was my internet connection that disable me to access your good blog. So it was really a hosting problem. Thank God you’ve come back buddy. It’s still a good day ahead. Lessons learned to make you and your blog better. BTW, thanks for visiting at my site. Best results for you buddy.
Nice work on the video blog Deneil and good luck with the new hardware
As for the over reacting part, who cares you felt passionate about the things you were going through at that time.
Over the years I have learned that there’s one thing you shouldn’t be cheapwith – your webshosting company. I’ve had my fair share of hosting companies (a lot of free sponsored hosting when I was still running a popular blog) but nowadays I stick with Liquidweb.com, they’re support is lightning fast and accurate. One of my sites pulls over 1.4 million pageviews per month, and has had a hard time coping. The LW support team went in and worked hard to get everything running as smooth as it does today.
Notice how there’s no affiliate links in there? I don’t get paid to praise them, they’re just that good
ack! Where’s the edit button when you need it. Darn typos!
Hey my friend! I’m sorry to heard what happened to you! I understand now why I couldn’t log on your website last time. BTW, It’s really great to see you on video. You did me a really good impression, and you seem to be at ease in front of the camera. At leasts it’s how I feel. Can’t wait to see you on video again!
Sorry to hear about your problems, it makes us all mad and upset when things like this happen.
I hope you sort out your hosting problems
Sorry about the problems you’ve been having.
Nice laptop btw it’s really nice I love Toshiba. I still prefer Mac’s though.
Also, I like your video since it was your first time and you weren’t used to being in front of the camera you did really good.
Also, hope your hosting problems are fixed.
Sorry about that, I don’t know the name of the plugin that allow people to edit their comments.
Benjamin, things happen the only thing we can do is react to them. I am happy you like the video though.
It’s ok everything worked out fine.
Thank you, Caden, I am the same way. I love mac’s just can’t afford one at the moment.
Thank you, everybody seems to think this. I guess I am too hard on myself.
Indeed, I was really freaking out about it. Think I should change hosting companies?
I am glad you like the video. I was truly freaking out and didn’t know what to do. Since getting my sites back up was out of my hands. I had to fix something, so I bought the laptop.
Paul, I seriously can’t afford to have many hosting accounts. I do need to bring up the income levels. My affiliate marketing effects aren’t too good so far. Once I grow my network of mini sites more I will have to have at least 2 hosting accounts. I can’t have my ebook site nor this blog go down again.
Yeah, I hope it never happens again but its apart of business. We will go through things like this from time to time.
4 days, OMG. I don’t think I could go through that. I would have switch hosts after half a day.
Tell me about it. It’s worst than not being able to get on twitter. lol, I am so addicted to twitter.
I used windows movie maker.
I bet that freaked out when the site when down. I totally understand emergency downtime. I freak out when its out of no where and I have no control over getting the sites back up.
I am glad you like the laptop, I want a mac but could not wait to get a new computer. My dad’s computer was just way too slow.
I am happy you like the video, I will be doing more videos seeing the responses I got to this one.
Yeah, it sucks when a computer just quit on you when you trying to run a business. I prefer laptops but my only problem with laptops is battery life.
I think I will do another video next week.
They said the server was down. They have very quick support so I will hang in there and see what happens.
Thank you, I will be doing more videos. It seems everybody liked the video.
I have 3 seperate multi domain accounts for less than your $41 a month
A couple of domains get well over 15000 unique visitors a day and I’ve never had any problems with using them on shared hosting. I guess I should really write this up over at my place
Great! I may want to see you more on video in coming days. I hope I can do it one day later as I’m still nervous to talk on video, still need to practice. You’re doing good Deneil.
Regards,
Lee
Don’t put too much thought into doing a video. If you do it will never happen.
Vic thanks for the add on facebook. We can talk more about blogging. For linkedin add me through the email address I used to comment on your blog.
Yeah, lesson learned big time. You welcome, you have a good blog going.
Thank you John.
Indeed my friend, made for good entertainment for everybody as well.
Thanks for the recommendation but I went with hostgator.
You could not be more right. Problems with design, coding, hosting, and etc. All gets us upset. It’s how we deal with things that make us successful or a failure.
