Are You Sick Of Seeing Me Everywhere?

by Deneil Merritt on July 8, 2009

I have been doing tons of blog commenting. Not “nice blog post” type of comments either. I am talking about real blog comments. When I say ton I mean almost 100 comments daily. Some days I don’t do blog commenting and my rss feed reader starts to fill up with a lot of blog posts. When this happens I take one day to comment on almost all the blog posts. So I can easily do over 300 comments in a day.

Lately I have notice that I am on a lot of top commentators lists. Which gave me a lot of backlinks. (7,000+ backlinks) I am sure those backlinks will go away as soon as I stop commenting but blog commenting as become an addiction that is pretty good to have since it gets me tons of backlinks and traffic to my blog.

I comment so much to the point where I started thinking to myself. I wonder if anybody get sick of seeing me everywhere. I know you have those main 5 – 25 blogs you comment on daily and those 5 – 25 bloggers comment on your blog. I like to invade those circuits, I come in and slowly get all those blogs into my rss feed reader.

How I Start My Comment Attack

First I start with 5 big name blogs. I comment on their latest blog post. Then I comment on all the blogs from the bloggers that comment on that post. Then comment on all the blogs from the bloggers that comment on that post. Of course I add all these blogs to my rss feed reader as I comment on them. This way I just added around 20 – 30 new blogs and about 2 – 4 new circuits to my rss feed reader.

This is why my blog grows on a daily basics, have more subscribers, and more comments. I try to do my comment attack every 2 weeks – 4 weeks. I don’t want my rss feed reader to grow to fast but I just may go to about 10 big name blogs and do my comment attack to grow my rss feed reader a lot faster if I feel that I am falling behind in blog commenting.

So are you sick of seeing me everywhere you comment?

Never sick of you Deneil :)

I have the same approach as you do about commenting, but on a much more smaller scale, ok very small, lol. I don’t have loads of time, but I try my best to comment.

Thanks for sharing this info, I will try a bit harder now to get my numbers up.

Ohhh, so that’s why you left a comment on my website earlier today :) I was wondering how you found it, because I found your site yesterday, but I forgot how.

Do you also comment on the no-follow blogs where the backlink doesn’t provide anything, SEO wise?

(I use dofollow links on mine for now, but decide individually on each comment)

Kristin July 8, 2009 at 2:46 am

Wow – 7000 backlinks!!! Looks like your plan of attack is working. I will definitely have to try this. Thanks for the info!

300 blog comments per day is very impressive. I also use to comment on blogs, but I leave like 10, maybe 20 comments per day.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 8, 2009 at 4:09 pm

Yeah, its pretty hard to keep up with the amount of comments I do. I think I am addicted to commenting on blogs though. It may or may not be a good thing. If I like an article but can’t come up with a comment. I just stumble and tweet it.

Deneil your inspiring for many bloggers! I see you out and commenting and it encourages me to go out and comment!

I’m still doing good regaridng an articel a day. I blog in advance still and right now I’m blogging for Friday! I even decided to blog on weekedns! So right now I’m blogging 7 days a week haha!

Right now I’m using blogengage, http://www.blogengage.com to find the blog articles I want to comment on! Not only can I give back to the submitters but can also search my niche inside specific categories.

It’s working out awesome for me!

I am happy you like my blog. For your blog I would start with big name blogs like lazymanandmoney.com

I think it is a good approach but don’t you feel that time might be used in a better way? Blog commenting is great to get your name out there but you’re not growing your business and putting money in your pocket by doing so. Have you given that any thought?

Deneil… to me it makes me want to work harder seeing your name on EVERY BLOG I visit. I do a little bit of commenting, but on a much smaller scale like George :)

Keep up the good work!

Yeah it surely does bring in traffic and backlinks without spending a penny. As for having many pages on the homepage. I find people look through more pages that way.

I see you on every single blog that I comment on as well…it is a good thing as your comments are always deep and worth reading. 100 per day is awesome. I am on a 100 per week rotation and that is hard sometimes.

I’m sure that blog commenting is the best way to get both traffic and backlink to your site without spending a penny. Let’s say that it’s a hard work, but it’s rewarding. I do really like the way you display articles on your blog. I mean, I have the choice among a lot of articles which is very important for me. It makes me spend more time on your blog and read your latest articles I am interested in without having to change the pages. Maybe I should publish more than 3 post by pages, but I’m afraid that the page will be too much long the scroll down.

Commenting on blogs for backlinks is a good way to try and rank higher in search engines, but you have to know the anchored text that the site will be using as a link. If you are commenting with your name, then that’s what you will rank high for. If you want to rank high for ’seo strategies’ then you should probably use that as your name so you get the anchored link.

Commenting is also good for marketing, branding, and networking so yes good points.

Hello Deneil

I’m definitely not sick of seeing you. I appreciate that you comment on my blog. I need to work harder and participate on a few more blogs myself.

BTW, what is the comment plugin you use for this site? I like the look. Or is it part of your theme?

Thanks!

Deneil,

Great work! Must take some dedication to do that much blog commenting per day. By the way, what website do you use to check how many backlinks you have?

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 8, 2009 at 10:18 pm

I like your blog, I think if you try this, I am sure you will get more comments on your blog posts.

It’s part of the theme. You can use the plugin thread comments.

Yes, it is common advice, but leaving thoughtful comments on related blogs really works.

It’s really nice to see your presence everywhere.

In the long run, whenever people see your name, they would be thinking to ourselves “hmmm, I think I have seen him somewhere”.

That will be a terrific milestone.

Awesome comment technique man. I actually just started something similar. (but on a smaller scale). It really does help seo wise and traffic wise. Recently, I am going to Problogger and visiting the blogs of all the commentators for a post. I need to do more commenting though.

I’m definitely not sick of you; you provide quality comments.

It’s kinda difficult to hit 300 blog comments in a day, some more you have time to write a blog post in daily basis. Deneil, are you a full time blogger? I’m a part time blogger and only spent 2-3 hours a day in blogging.

Holy crap!!! 300 Blog posts in one day? I wish I had that kind of time on my hands, I would love to take in that much fresh information everyday.

If it wasn’t for my feed reader I would never get caught up or be able to reach all of the sites I like to comment on, like yours. It’s my personal blogging buddy.

George that mean you in a circuit. Try the comment attack one time and see how much your blog and rss feed reader grows in that one day.

You welcome, let me know how it works out for you.

lol, yeah. I find a lot of blogs this way.

Yes, I comment on all blogs. nofollow or dofollow. I don’t focus on backlinks. I focus on finding more blogs and connecting with bloggers.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 8, 2009 at 11:48 am

Yeah, I am sure it will grow to over 20,000 backlinks by the end of the year. I highly recommend you try this. It will bring a nice amount of traffic.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 8, 2009 at 11:50 am

300 blog comments in a day is only when I am falling behind in blog comments which is really rare. I recommend you step up your blog commenting to 30 – 50 comments a day and see the difference.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 8, 2009 at 11:53 am

I am happy its working out for you. Having blogengage under your belt really is a great tool to leverage. I will have to leverage your site pretty soon to find more blogs.

Truthfully blog commenting is the perfect way to grow my business until I reach the 6 months mark where the search engine traffic starts to flow in. I have a few plans in the works and blog commenting is one of the steps in those plans.

I never do anything without it helping out in my plans.

Thank you for your tip but I am not trying to use blog commenting to rank for keywords. I know a much better way to do so. I been doing SEO for years. So I know what I am doing.

Yes, commenting is good for marketing, branding, and networking which is why I do it.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 8, 2009 at 10:06 pm

If you have a start and finish time then it will motivate you to do a lot more comments in less time without spamming. My typing speed is a lot faster than I think of words to type from doing so much commenting.

Well 300 comments in a day is really difficult to do. That’s why its rare I do it but sometimes I get way behind in blog commenting so I sit aside some time to do so. I am not a full time blogger. I have too many sites and side projects going on to be a full time blogger at the moment. I try my best to put 5 hours towards blogging and promotion for this blog as I see the brand growing pretty quickly.

I never knew it was so much easier to promote my own name vs promoting a website name I came up with.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 14, 2009 at 2:26 am

Only when I fall behind in blog commenting. It takes a lot of time but I just view it as part of promotion and research. :)

Trust me, I totally understand how you feel about your feed reader. If I didn’t have a feed reader their is no way I could ever pull off a 300 comment day. That would be nuts!

I started doing the comment attack on Monday and so far I’m having good results! However, my husband asked the same thing last night ~ what happens when you stop commenting? Do the visitors stop visiting too? I said, “It’s only been 2 days! Give it some time.” Our bounce rate has gone down, visitors, time on site, and pages/visit have gone up (considerably)! But I’m curious since Deneil has been doing this longer what his views are too.

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm

Well I have been doing this for awhile now and when I stop commenting for a few days. (Being too busy with other projects) The traffic seems to still be there but I have less comments. Some people will only comment if you comment but they still a reader as my subscribers count keep going up.

Also, I don’t just relay on blog commenting for traffic, I do on site SEO for each post, and I do social media marketing. I will be talking about that in a few days.

That’s great Deneil, I can see that you’re doing a really great job in blogging. Anyway, I thought commenting with a keyword is useful and helping on the search engine ranking. But it’s not working actually to leave keyword as a name while commenting in a nofollow blog right?
I’m going to leave my name instead of keyword to promote my blog right now. I do hope to build my own brand now. thanks for the idea Deneil! :)

Regards,
Lee

Reply

Deneil Merritt July 16, 2009 at 9:32 am

Using a keyword is useful for ranking in search engines. Of course you would need to comment on dofollow blogs with the keyword. Commenting with your name brings a more personal level to it. Bloggers like to know who they are talking too. I for one don’t like starting a keyword as a person’s name. It just feels weird and wrong.

You welcome. Good luck with building your brand.
